Cool Eco Friendly Kitchen and Other Such Lingo Declassified

Kitchens are where all kinds of memories are made. Like a grown man, for example, would probably remember how he “accidentally took” mom’s freshly baked brownies or something like that even if he can’t remember other things in that part of his life. Simply put, kitchens are not only for cooking but for gathering together as well. Usually, breakfast is served in the kitchen even if it’s just for tradition’s sake. So open up your mind and absorb in all these facts about today’s kitchen.

- Have you ever heard of an eco friendly kitchen? In a sentence, a kitchen of this kind can be explained as a place where nature didn’t have to sacrifice herself just so you can enjoy opening and closing a cabinet door. There are even cabinets that are now commercially available that look and feel like wood but isn’t actual wood. How about that for style and nature friendly points?

- If you are going green, then why not go all the way? Another eco friendly tip is to look for items that make use of recyclable materials like corks, bamboo or even scrap wood. Many cabinets, table tops and floors are now made from those mentioned above. If you are new to the eco friendly thing, then you can always start small. Simply changing light bulbs for other light bulbs that use less energy will make a huge difference.

- If you are a Zen type of person who likes good karma and wants everything to be in order, then you might want to look at a feng shui kitchen. This kind of kitchen is similar to any other kitchen except for the fact that some items, like the door, fridge or even the chairs are placed strategically not for design purposes but to avoid inviting in bad karma. It may hinder others from unleashing their creative side because of the restrictions, but, just think of how the food will taste so much better because only good karma surrounded it.

- There are many things to consider when it comes to feng shui, for example, it might be highly impractical to change the position of the doorway – and it might even sound ridiculous to you – but feng shui is now fast becoming common knowledge so if you want to know more about this and remodel your house in a way that it can ward off the negative and attract the positive, then you can buy books regarding this Chinese practice.

- Thinking of a less drastic change to your house, particularly for your kitchen? Then you might want to look at a kitchen photo gallery to inspire you a bit. A fresh coat of paint is sometimes all it needs to make your house more inspiring again. If you have black granite counter tops and white walls, then why not consider painting your walls a luxurious shade of red? This will add a dramatic and fun touch to your house - sort of like a face lift.

- A kitchen is made up of a lot of things, like the counter tops, cabinets and so on. But have you ever heard of a kitchen island? If not, then let us clue you in. An island is usually in the middle of the kitchen and it could be small that it can only accommodate a sink and one person at the same time or it can be so big that it can double up as a breakfast nook where stools occupy the sides and three or more people can sit there. Basically, an island is present in the kitchen so that there is enough space for everyone so many people can help out in the kitchen.

Kitchen ideas and styles come and go. Some, like the eco friendly kitchen, would probably stick around more than the others. So if you are planning on subtly changing a part of your home or to renovate your kitchen, then it is important that you not only stick with the current trends but somehow, make it your own and make your kitchen look appropriate even after ten years.

I just completed a kitchen renovation. I ended up gutting the space except for the cabinet face frames. Except for moving the dishwasher closer to the sink I left the space alone. Ceramic tile on the floor and backsplash, new formica on the countertop, and new cabinet doors and hardware, and my kitchen is complete
